St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth provides specialist palliative care to people with life threatening illnesses and support to their families and carers, in partnership with others. The care is not just medical and nursing but incorporates emotional, social and spiritual support as well.
We wish to recruit new members to join our governing body, the Board of Trustees. Trustees are responsible for leading the strategic direction of the charity. The role is primarily governance, as the Senior Management team are responsible for the operational matters.
The successful candidates are likely to have experience of contributing to board or committee meetings, be able to make a commitment to St Luke’s and devote the necessary time. The full board meet six times a year, usually in the evening between 6.00pm -9.00pm.
Board members are also expected to become part of a board committee and/or a hospice operational group, who usually meet every month for approximately 2 hours.
You will have strategic but sensitive leadership and authority, with the ability to innovate, to challenge assumptions and to contribute your views and experience. Ideally, the new Trustee will also have skills and experience in clinical governance.
We are particularly keen to achieve a more diverse Board of Trustees and we welcome applications from all sectors of the community.
