Plymouth, steeped in maritime history and known for its elevated sea views, changing wind shifts, strong currents and tidal flow, hosts the return of the SailGP championship to UK shores on July 17-18 2021 for the third event in Season 2.
SailGP receives incredible volunteer support. You’ll have a great time, meet new people and help deliver an event that is leading the future of sustainable sailing racing. Volunteers and Brand Ambassadors are the backbone of our event, without your support and enthusiasm we couldn’t make this happen.
We have a variety of roles available, please take a look below at what takes your fancy.
It’s important to remember that you’re the eyes and ears of the event, and likely the first people that guests will see.

ROLE – FRIDAY PRE EVENT
A limited number of Friday shifts are available. Working closely with the SailGP HQ team, you’ll help set up the Official Fan Village. This is a more logistical role and you could be setting up signs, moving tables etc. Roles here do require a level of physical ability.
ROLE – REGISTRATION & TICKETING
You’ll be welcoming thousands of guests and spectators to the event, and you’ll be the first people most will meet. You will be scanning tickets using an iPad, assigning accreditation (wristbands) and spectator access.
ROLE – CHECK-IN
Working in our Media Centre or Adrenaline Lounge, you’ll be providing the best on site customer service going. We’ll ensure you receive a full briefing, so you can answer all questions with confidence.
ROLE – BRAND AMBASSADORS
Similar to Check-In, you’ll be providing answers to questions from one of our Info Points within the Official Fan Village. Usually, these are questions around directions, lost property etc, but we’ll ensure you receive a full briefing, so you can answer any questions with confidence.
ROLE – PEOPLE & VEHICLE MANAGEMENT
In high footfall areas we’ll need your help to keep people on paths and off the roads. The majority of the event is car free, so you’re more than likely to be helping direct crowds to the right areas.
ROLE – WELCOME HOSTS
You’ll be welcoming thousands of guests and spectators to Plymouth, placed at the train station and other strategic spots. Signposting to the event and giving additional information.
