Bridging the Tamar Visitor Centre Volunteers

Type: Admin Support, Information / advice

Location: All of Plymouth

Established to celebrate the engineering legacy of the Tamar Estuary’s historic bridges, the Bridging the Tamar Visitor and Learning centre opened in 2019.
The Centre interprets the heritage of both the 20th century Tamar Bridge and Brunel’s iconic 19th century Royal Albert Bridge for school children, local people and tourists. The interactive exhibition space and a Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) learning and events programme brings the bridges to life. The Centre supports young people to find out about careers in STEAM and helps foster civic pride locally.

Bridge Ambassadors are volunteers who engage people with the two iconic structures that connect Devon and Cornwall – the Tamar Bridge and the Royal Albert Bridge.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and positive team of volunteers who can help support us in a variety of roles.

You could be giving guided tours of the Tamar Bridge, welcoming visitors as they stop off at our Learning Centre on their way to Cornwall, or inspiring children on a school trip. There are also opportunities to do historical research.
The roles are very flexible and there is no regular time slot you have to commit to. Full training and induction will be given.
