Sporting Memories Volunteers

Type: Emotional / social support, Information / advice

Location: All of Plymouth

Elder Tree supports people over the age of 50 living in the Plymouth area. We offer activities, coffee mornings and a one-to-one service, all with a focus on befriending.

We are seeking volunteers who can commit to a regular programme of a 2 hour sessions (various week days) to support our Project Worker deliver a Sporting Memories session.
Our Sporting Memories programme supports people with dementia. The groups are predominantly male and we create an opportunity to revive memories based on sporting experiences. The groups are lively and varied.
Training and support will be available and the groups run in various locations around the city.

Working alongside our Project Worker to deliver our Sporting Memories Sessions, you could be meeting and greeting our beneficiaries, assisting with making tea and coffee and support the group members to get the most from the session. We want to ensure that every group member can engage in the activity in some way so you may be supporting a small group or one individual within the group to help achieve this.
The sessions are fun and encourage interaction and reminiscence.
