South West Blood Bikes (SWBB) provides a free volunteer out-of-hours emergency courier service to the NHS and other medical facilities, using a fleet of motorcycles and cars.
South West Blood Bikes is looking for Volunteer Fundraisers to help collect money which will support this vital service.
SWBB is the ONLY Blood Bike service in Devon to be a member of the Nationwide Association of Blood Bikes. This means it has been assessed and found to meet the Membership standards, and that it forms part of a Nationwide chain of Blood Bike volunteers stretching across the entire UK and Eire.
Its mission is clear – to save lives, and improve outcomes for patients by supporting healthcare providers where rapid movement of the items needing transport will achieve this.
Founded in 2018, initially servicing Plymouth in Devon, SWBB is now expanding its service across the county.
It moves Whole Blood, Pathology and Microbiology samples, Donor Breast Milk, Medical Records and X-Rays, Medical Equipment and Test Kits, and medications including controlled drugs – in fact, anything that is required urgently by a medical facility, providing it can fit on a motorcycle.
Founded in 2018, initially servicing Plymouth in Devon, we are now expanding our service across the County.
The charity is registered with the Charities Commission, registration number 1180510, with HMRC, and holds the Charities Excellence Framework “Trust Mark” which has been achieved for the second year running.
SWBB is looking for volunteer fundraisers, the most crucial part of any team and charity – someone who wishes to work as part of a team, who can provide a few hours to help deliver the service.
We collect money in several ways, through collections, often events at stores, through giving talks at clubs and organisations who wish to donate to us, by writing or contacting others asking for donations and by providing support to the riders and call handlers in other ways.
Through public awareness campaigns, helping to deliver awareness of the trust and its aims and objectives.
We need you to help develop and deliver our service, to be a part of our team. You don’t need to ride a bike or drive a car, you need to be good at being you.
If you are a lively, outgoing person who is good at being a team player, we need to hear from you to understand how you might help us to help others.
