Plymouth Argyle have an exciting opportunity to join the match day operations team at Home Park and represent the club as part of their new “Match Day Makers” project.

Plymouth Argyle is a professional football club who currently compete in League One, the third highest professional division in men’s football in England.

The Pilgrims have an exciting opportunity to join the match day operations team at Home Park and represent the club as part of their new “Match Day Makers” project.

This brand new scheme aims to champion customer service and enhance the match day experience for all supporters visiting Plymouth Argyle, through a team of knowledgeable and enthusiastic volunteers deployed in and around Home Park on match days. 

The Match Day Makers will be on hand before, during and after home matches to assist with any queries supporters may have. Based at a variety of information points around Home Park, they will provide match day information, help with way-finding and directions around the stadium, interact and engage with our supporters (particularly families) and ultimately provide a warm welcome and excellent customer service to all visitors. 

For many of our supporters, our Match Day Makers will be the first representative of the club they meet and interact with when visiting Home Park, so the service the team delivers is crucial to making that all important positive first impression and sets the tone for their match day. Therefore, we’re looking for individuals with loads of energy and enthusiasm, who have fantastic people and communication skills and who are passionate about all things Plymouth Argyle, to act as our ambassadors and represent what will be a key front-line team with a vital role in delivering the very best match day experiences possible for our supporters.

The Role

Our ideal candidates are those who are outgoing and confident in engaging and interacting with our supporters. You’ll be a people person who can deliver excellent service and looks to help at any opportunity. 

What you’ll need:

– Excellent communication skills

– To be confident and outgoing; ultimately, a people person, comfortable with interacting with our supporters

– The ability to adapt your approach to cater to different supporter groups and provide a bespoke approach, with information/recommendations tailored to their specific needs

– Lots of energy and enthusiasm 

– Passion for all things Plymouth Argyle

– Desire to enhance the match day experience for our supporters and to deliver the highest levels of customer service

– Be a team player

In return for their service and hard work, participants will receive a range of benefits from the club, including club branded uniform and invitations to club events. 

Key Duties/Responsibilities: 

– Provide excellent customer service and a warm, friendly welcome to all supporters

– Proactively assist supporters in and around Home Park on match days by answering queries, providing match day information and helping with directions/wayfinding

– Act as a visible sign of support and information for all visitors to Home Park

– Be a knowledgeable and approachable member of the team 

– Possess a good understanding of the EFL Family Excellence Scheme and proactively support the club’s efforts towards achieving Gold status 

– Help to champion Plymouth Argyle as an inclusive football club, by assisting our supporters with key accessible materials/equipment, such as Sensory Packs and audio descriptive commentary sets 

– Assist with “Match Day Magic Moments” where necessary, helping to create unforgettable memories for our supporters

– Be a passionate, enthusiastic and professional ambassador for the club

– Live and breathe the club’s values

– Have a flexible approach and be willing to commit to working a range of match days (mainly Saturday afternoons but with some evenings also required) and in various weather conditions

– Be willing to undertake any training necessary for the role and will require an enhanced DBS check (this will be provided by the club)
