Local Governing Board Volunteers

Plympton St Mary’s Infant School and Old Priory Junior Academy are two local schools on a journey of improvement, providing a wide and varied curriculum and experiences to enable our pupils to become the best version of themselves.

We are seeking committed individuals to join our Local Governing Board. As a member of the St. Mary’s Priory Schools Governing Board, volunteers will join two schools on their journey of school improvement. Volunteers will hold leaders to account, be responsible for ensuring clarity of vision and strategic direction with the focus to improve the education of our children. As a Local Governing Board we require individuals with a wide range of skills, however most important is that you have a desire to improve the outcomes of our children.

The St. Mary’s Priory Schools Governing Board meets for 6 full Governing Board meetings each year( 1 per term) with occasional additional sub-committee meetings as and when required. Each Governor takes on a lead role for the Board and will liaise with the relevant member of the school team, arranging visits to monitor the progress being made.
