Hospital Radio Plymouth

Type: Admin Support, Event Volunteering, Fundraising, Governance/Leadership, Information / advice, Marketing & Social Media

Location: All of Plymouth

Anybody can apply to join Hospital Radio Plymouth. We’ve been a fixture in the community of Plymouth and surrounding areas since 1969. Our station is run entirely by a team of dedicated and passionate volunteers who work in the booth and behind-the-scenes to produce and deliver quality radio to our listeners. There are a number of ways you could get involved as a volunteer, we are currently looking to fill a number of roles so if you see something that you like the sound of, we’d love to hear from you.

On Air.

We are always on the lookout for new talent. If you have a passion for radio, are keen to meet new people and love music then this could be the role for you. We’re looking for presenters who can broadcast to the hospital campus and online. Presenters are the voice of Hospital Radio and they broadcast to the hospital’s patients, visitors and staff every day. With great music, interviews and conversation, they can really raise a smile! If you have experience, we’d love to hear from you, or if you are just getting started, we can pair you with one of our existing presenters to show you the ropes.

Behind the Scenes.

We’re also looking for brilliant behind-the-scenes support for Hospital Radio. We have a number of roles available – admin support, premises manager, and a social media officer.

The social media officer needs to help us to celebrate the brilliant work of our volunteers, to advertise the station and connect with our audiences, working with the PR lead.

The premises manager will make sure the building is ship-shape and accessible for the full team and visitors. We have a state-of-the-art studio that we broadcast from, located near the hospital and we work closely with the hospital estates team to ensure the building is fit for purpose.

Our admin support role will help with enquiries, setting up visitors, accepting song requests and arranging meetings. There’s lots going on and it is an exciting team to be a part of!

Fundraising.

We’re looking for someone who knows how to fundraise to support a brilliant cause. Hospital Radio broadcasts to Derriford Hospital, raising smiles as great music is played, the NHS Star of the Week is awarded and requests are taken. Run entirely by volunteers and financed by donations and sponsorship, the station needs support to continue to run.

Can you organise a great fundraiser? Could you find sponsors for our shows? We’re looking for someone with enthusiasm, creativity and knowledge of effective fundraising to continue to make our station run smoothly. This role is flexible and can be undertaken at home when arranging fundraising opportunities. Getting the team together to support events, keeping records of fundraising and being organised are key elements to the role. You’ll be able to come into the studio too so you can see the broadcast in action and to get to know the team.

If any of the above excite you, get in touch today.
