Hamoaze House Volunteering.

Type: Charity Retail, Covid-19, Food / grocery delivery, Fundraising, Information / advice, Other, Transportation

Location: All of Plymouth

Hamoaze House was incorporated on the 30th June 1998, receiving charity status on the 7th July 1998. Our principle activity is the provision of day support rehabilitation facilities for persons in the community affected by multiple vulnerabilities and complex needs with a focus on problematic use of drugs/alcohol. This includes for their families and friends. We also provide in partnership a young person’s drug and alcohol project. We are also funded to deliver a Hidden Harm Project this is supporting children whose lives are affected by parental use of drugs and alcohol. Alongside this at Seymour House we have an alternative programme of activities for young people at risk, on a reduced timetable or at risk of school exclusion, we work with schools citywide. We also offer after school clubs, sports clubs, life skills with positive activities and a youth club. The Hamoaze House building is used by a wide variety of professional agencies for meetings and events. This includes AA and DAA meetings, DAA Convention, BUD Club (a club for families with children on the autistic spectrum). It is also a vibrant ‘hub’ for social and sports activities which are offered to people living in the local community as well as all those who use the facilities.

We are looking for volunteers for the following areas:
Driving our minibuses to collect food donations citywide in Plymouth, to make collections for our Charity Shop and to transport users of our services to appointments etc (must be over 21 years of age)
To volunteer in our Coffee Box on site at Hamoaze House providing refreshments to the general public
To help us maintain the cleanliness of Hamoaze House during the current covid guidelines.
To help promote Hamoaze House by looking at ways to raise funds in order to support and enhance the services on offer.
To volunteer in our Charity Shop which is open from 9 – 5 pm Monday to Saturday

Generally, volunteers to assist at Hamoaze House from 9 – 5 pm Monday to Friday although there may also be some opportunities for volunteering in the evenings. As the weather improves, we would like to be able to extend the volunteering opportunities into the weekend.

We will provide Barista Training and Food and Hygiene qualification if required and working in our Coffee Box will also include bookkeeping skills, stock control, customer relations etc.

Hamoaze House is a large Grade II listed building and takes up a considerable amount of time to keep areas clean in line with covid guidelines, any help in aiding us to keep safe for visitors and staff would be greatly appreciated.

Please Note: You will need to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check prior to commencing as a volunteer. If you feel you have any skills that you could bring to Hamoaze would we love to hear from you. Apply below.
