Clive Davies is the Warehouse Manager at FareShare South West Devon and Cornwall. He is passionate about sending food out to help others that are less fortunate and also to reduce waste.
FareShare South West Devon and Cornwall is looking for volunteers to help with the picking of produce to go out to the charities to distribute, drivers and drivers’ mates to undertake all deliveries in and around Devon and Cornwall, and general admin roles.
As FareShare develops and expands, it doesn’t necessarily follow that it is able to employ more paid staff. It is therefore essential to develop new specific roles for volunteers both in the warehouse and in an admin and supervisor/manager support capacity.
Volunteers are needed to help with the processes involved, including:
- Admin / Operational
- Food Poverty
- Transportation / Deliveries
- Charity Retail
These would be similar to actual paid roles but carried out by more able volunteers who want to hone their skills, take on greater responsibilities and become potentially more employable.
Some aspects of these roles are to some extent already being done by more able volunteers – this would formalise and expand the range of roles to cover all support needed by the operations manager and shift supervisor.
Tasks that we need help with are picking of produce to go out to the charities to distribute, drivers and drivers’ mates to undertake all deliveries in and around Devon and Cornwall, and general admin roles.
