We are a Plymouth based non-profit organisation and we are all about the promotion of positive mental health for children, young people and those that inhabit their world, through a range of person centred, preventative creative and outcome-led training and support services. We work in community venues and school settings across Plymouth, the South West and wider region, in person and virtually when required.
We are fledgling as a non-profit, although the work has been developed and delivered independently through a micro business since 2010.
No experience is required to volunteer with us other than a friendly, compassionate and accepting nature, the ability to work as part of a team, a good sense of humour and a willingness to undergo training and supportive supervision when required.
Full training will be given and ongoing support, although experience or awareness in the field of holistic and humanistic mental health, communication skills, training, counselling or youth working may be helpful.
We welcome applications from all ages and backgrounds and embrace the fact that many people interested in this field may have their own lived experience of mental health issues.
We are looking for people to assist our lead facilitators with the delivery of our young people’s, practitioner and parent/carer programmes around resilience building, mental health promotion, awareness of mental health issues affecting a young person’s world, communication skills and creative self esteem and confidence building techniques. Volunteers would be supported in helping with handout distribution, joining in with group discussion and activities, listening supportively and having fun!
We run daytime and after school programmes and workshops and also do outreach work across the South West from time to time. Volunteer hours can be flexible according to each applicants preferences.
There will also be progression routes for those that are interested in leading workshops where appropriate.
We are also looking for help with marketing, fund raising and funding applications, promotional events, admin and awareness raising.
We promote inclusive working in all aspects of our organisation and welcome applications from all that are interested in what we do.
