We're recruiting for a Mayflower 400 Volunteer Manager

 

Primary Purpose of Role – To recruit, train, coordinate, engage and manage the Mayflower Makers for Mayflower 400 in Plymouth, Devon. This role will ensure we have the right volunteer with the right training and kit to be at the right volunteering opportunity at the right time every time.

 

Key Accountabilities

Facilitate the delivery of the core Mayflower Makers Training Programme

Develop a programme of training, aligned to the needs of volunteer, events and partners

Identify and work with partners to support the roll out of this programme

Work with partners and communities to provide a pipeline of volunteers and collate volunteering across the Mayflower 400 partners

Identify, collate and prioritise the Mayflower 400 volunteer opportunities from across the programme and partners

Establish excellent administrative systems to support the programme, providing the right number of volunteers with the right skills to the right activities

Use ‘Our Plymouth’ digital tools to broker, record and manage volunteer activity  

Coordinate volunteers to ensure the volunteering requirement is delivered

Manage volunteer uniforms, kit and resources

Develop a reward and recognition scheme.

 

Key Activities

Volunteer Recruitment

o   Lead on recruitment, selection and placement of volunteers using the Our Plymouth digital platform

Volunteer training and development

o   Train and support volunteers to deliver the requirement for Mayflower 400

o   Oversee and coordinate training required for volunteers both new and existing

o   Evaluate training through feedback and consultation, making improvements as required

Volunteer Management

o   With partners, identify suitable opportunities for volunteers

o   Design, develop and manage efficient administrative processes using the Our Plymouth digital platform

o   Be the main point of contact for volunteers

o   Coordinate all volunteer activity

o   Evaluate the success of the volunteer programme, including the design of a reward and recognition scheme

 

Essential qualifications

Equivalent and relevant experience

Up to date knowledge and understanding of volunteering best practice  

Knowledge of relevant legislation and policy

 

Essential experience

Managing volunteers

Line management

Creating and implementing a volunteering programme

Design and delivery of training

Planning, scheduling and operations management with excellent attention to detail

Partnership working

 

Essential Skills

Project Management

Highly organised

Excellent interpersonal skills

Excellent influencing  and motivational skills

Ability to problem solve

Ability to be self-motivated and to work unsupervised

Team-working

Good level of computer literacy and IT skills

Salary – £26,000 -  £32,000 Depending on experience.

Contract until March 31st 2021.
